When I lived in Thailand years ago, I traveled to all Southeast Asian countries except Timor-Leste (East Timor). This has always been a regret for me. As world travel is opening up, I decided to visit Timor-Leste to complete my Southeast Asia experience. As options of getting into and out of Timor-Leste are limited, I decided to have an Indo-Pacific journey from Australia to Indonesia through Timor-Leste for my first real long-haul holiday after the pandemic.

About a month ago, the Canadian government announced that fully vaccinated travelers will no longer need a negative COVID test to enter Canada. I couldn't wait longer and decided to checked out the Nicoya Peninsula during the Easter holiday period. There are few countries not too far from Canada that don't require a COVID test at the moment. Costa Rica was chosen because of the high vaccination rate in the country (85%).

It has been two years since the COVID-19 pandemic began and traveling abroad is still very challenging for working people (though technically possible). The scenic train from Prince Rupert to Jasper seemed to be a reasonable option to celebrate this holiday season.

Although I've been to Sunshine Coast many times, I only checked out the major towns accessible by public transit. The less populated areas on the Sechelt Peninsula of Sunshine Coast, including the impressive Skookumchuck Narrows, are not reachable by public transport. I decided to rent a car to check out this natural wonder and some other interesting hiking trails this hot weekend.
