One advantage of being Canadian over American is the freedom to go to Cuba - one of the most fascinating Caribbean destinations. As a world traveler, I definitely won't miss this opportunity.

A colleague reminded me that the Good Friday/Easter Monday holiday is actually a 4-day long weekend. I got to go somewhere. Mexico seems to be a reasonable destination from Vancouver. Decision made.
